Our History
The Living Arroyos program launched in 2013, originally offering internships and weekend volunteer opportunities.
The Adopt a Creek program was developed a year earlier by the City of Livermore Water Resources Division. This program was incorporated into Living Arroyos in 2016 to allow it to expand throughout the Tri-Valley. Today, there are adopted creeks in all Tri-Valley cities and plans to offer more for adoption each year.
Living Arroyos is a unique community engagement opportunity that renews and enhances urban stream and riparian (streamside) habitats in the Livermore-Amador Valley and reestablishes the connection between people and the arroyos in their own backyards.
